YCM Family Concert Series: Goldberg Quartet

YCM’s Amy Barton is the impetus behind this new concert series designed for the enjoyment of school-aged children and adults alike.  First up, will be the November performance by Goldberg Quartet, a group of talented young musicians who were recently accepted into the prestigious international chamber music program the Stauffer Center for Strings.

The quartet has selected two pieces for their YCM Family Concert:

  • Haydn’s opus 20 no. 2 is the perfect demonstration of the musical conversation that happens between these four string instruments written by the “Father of the String Quartet” himself, Franz Joseph Haydn.
  • Antonin Dvorak’s “American” string quartet opus 96 no. 12 is one of the Bohemian composer’s landscape masterpieces in which he used the format of the string quartet to musically express the spirit of the New World that so fascinated him on his travels.

Amy Barton will emcee the evening and indicate what to listen for as we enjoy the performances of these talented young musicians. Donations at the door.
