“Chromatics”, our choir for middle schoolers, is our premier ensemble. From multi-movement masterworks to challenging a cappella arrangements of popular songs, the selection of music for this group reflects their continued mastery of the vocal arts. Building on the YCM foundational principles of healthy vocal production and music literacy, choristers have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the history of music as they sample the many treasures in the choral canon. They also serve on the front lines of contemporary music-making by sponsoring and championing the work of living composers.
Voice Lab is an optional activity offered to our Chromatics students. At this one-hour lesson, we step away from the repertoire to work on voice fundamentals and prepare for Cambridge exams, as desired.

Performances throughout the artistic season
YCM believes strongly in giving our choristers multiple opportunities to perform. We want our young artists to experience the sense of satisfaction that is felt as a result of hours of acquiring new skills and overcoming challenges to gain mastery. These performances are peak experiences for choristers and audiences alike, showcasing weeks, months, and even years of musical preparation and dedication.
