Creative Arts courses in English for ages 8-13 in Milan
Videomaking & Photography with your smartphone.
Robotics & coding with LEGO.
Young Creatives Milan is the creative arts division of YCM, offering hands-on afterschool labs in robotics, coding, and videomaking for kids ages 8-13 who want to build, create, and tell stories, all taught in English. Whether they’re coding a LEGO robot to life, filming with a smartphone or camera, or editing their first short video, young creators explore STEM skills while learning to think critically, work as a team, and turn their ideas into reality. Guided by expert teachers and surrounded by a community of curious minds, they develop skills that go far beyond the classroom: confidence, resilience, and the courage to try something new. Because when kids create, they grow.

Meet our team
LEGO Robotics Lab teacher
Emma
Emma is a primary teacher from Scotland who has spent over a decade shaping young minds, including the last five years right here in Milan. She holds a BA in English Language from the University of Reading and a Postgraduate Teaching Degree from the University of Edinburgh. What drives her is creating hands-on, engaging experiences that spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and inspire every child to reach their full potential. Now she’s bringing that same energy to YCM’s LEGO Robotics Lab, where she’s exploring robotics and coding to discover new ways to make learning innovative, meaningful, and fun. For Emma, teaching isn’t just about delivering lessons. It’s about opening doors and showing kids what’s possible.

Mila
Mila is a portrait and lifestyle photographer and videomaker who captures the beauty she sees in everyone. With roots in four countries and stories from over thirty more, she brings a global eye and a deeply personal approach to every project. She mastered light through photography, then brought it to life through motion, creating cinematic mini-films long before reels were a thing. For Mila, her work is about more than just taking pictures or shooting video. It’s about revealing the story, the personality, and the confidence that was always there. Photography and film are how she shows people what she sees: that everyone is beautiful.

Young Creatives Milan is committed to these four principles
Hands-on Learning
We believe the best way to learn is by doing. In our labs, students don't just watch or listen - they build, film, shoot, and create. From constructing with LEGO® to framing a photograph, from editing video footage to testing and refining their creations, every session is an invitation to get their hands dirty and their minds engaged. We use professional tools and age-appropriate techniques, guiding students step by step as they turn ideas into reality. Whether a project works on the first try or takes many attempts, the act of making - of trying, adjusting, and trying again - is where real learning happens.
Curiosity as a Tool
We believe that curiosity is the engine of all great work. In our labs, we don't just teach students how to use a camera or program a robot. We teach them to ask questions. What happens if I change the lighting? How does this gear fit with that one? Why did the robot move that way? What story am I trying to tell? We encourage our students to wonder, to experiment, and to follow their instincts. Curiosity turns a simple project into a discovery, and a discovery into a passion. By nurturing this mindset, we give our students a tool they can carry far beyond our labs, into school, into life, and into whatever they choose to create next.
Process over Product
In a world that often celebrates only the final result, we believe the real growth happens along the way. Our students learn that every project is built through trial, error, and revision. A robot that veers off course, a photograph that feels flat, a video scene that loses its momentum. These are not failures to be feared. They are how we learn what works and what doesn't. Instead of quick fixes, we guide our students to think critically, test different approaches, and adapt. They learn that there is rarely one right answer, and that the best solutions often come from unexpected places. The skills they build in the process matter far more than the finished product alone.
Many talents, one team.
We believe that great things are rarely made alone. In our labs, students learn to collaborate, share ideas, and build on each other's strengths. Whether they are troubleshooting a robot together, taking turns behind the camera, or giving feedback on a teammate's edit, they discover that the best work emerges from dialogue and mutual support. They learn to listen, to compromise, and to celebrate each other's contributions. These skills go far beyond our labs, preparing them to thrive in any team, in any field, and at any stage of life.
