Sessions run from late September until the end of May with breaks scheduled for Christmas, Carnival, and Easter as well as national and local public holidays.
All weekly sessions are held in our rehearsal space at Via Solferino 17.
Overtones is our ensemble for boys and girls enrolled in 3rd, 4th, 5th grades of elementary school. We meet weekly for 1 hour and 15 minutes to perfect the repertoire for the concerts planned in the academic year. Our pieces reflect our increasing vocal maturity and experience with reading music. As the core performing ensemble, we also spend time and effort on developing our interpretative and communication skills so that we can best share our joy for singing with our audiences.
In addition to our regularly scheduled weekly rehearsals, we also hold special workshops throughout the year (always on a Friday, 5-7pm) at which the full YCM chorus – comprising the Chromatics, Overtones, and Harmonics choirs – and our Musical Theatre section come together. These two-hour sessions are much more than general rehearsals. Expert guests are invited to share their knowledge and experience. Team-building exercises are run to forge lasting friendships and a shared sense of belonging. And plenty of time is devoted to having FUN!
YCM believes strongly in giving our choristers multiple opportunities to perform. We want our young artists to experience the sense of satisfaction that is felt as a result of hours of acquiring new skills and overcoming challenges to gain mastery. No matter the venue, these performances are sure to be peak experiences for choristers and audience alike, showcasing weeks and months of musical preparation and dedication.
YCM’s program runs from September through May. Tuition is to be paid in a single installment of €650 at the time of enrollment.
Additionally, choristers must purchase the YCM published music rights packet at a cost of €30.
As Overtones choristers are protagonists at our YCM performances, we require parents to sign a consent form at the time of enrollment to allow YCM to utilize photos, videos, and recordings of their chorister to promote YCM and/or our activities.
